Rolling Stone: Not Down with Coal

In the midst of march madness, when most Spartans are bleeding green and yelling at their Tv sets, the environment is the last thing on students minds.  But for those who are  able to  take their minds off of glory filled victories on the court, picking the latest issue of  Rolling Stone and reading their article Coal’s Toxic Sludge is a good idea. The article is compelling and give an in-depth account of how coal damages lives.

In addition, this week a grant was  awarded to the MSU Extension, which  will allow researchers to look into the feasibility of planting crops that could be used for biofuels. This is  a  great step toward moving Michigan  to a green economy and transitioning away from the use of coal.
